Mounting - Zamp Obsidian Panels
Last Updated 3 years ago

How do I use the Zamp Obsidian mount kits?

AM Solar Rocker Foot Mount Sets are the culmination of decades of RV solar installation experience. No penetration is needed when installed on fiberglass or metal roofs thanks to the VHB tape. When installing on rubber, TPO, or any rough surface, the included mounting screws are recommended.

These mount sets include hardware designed specifically to work with Zamp Solar Obsidian panel frames. (ZampSolar.com)

Stabilized Kit (91M-OS):

The stabilized kits allow you to utilize tilt bars.

  1. Insert your (8) spring nuts into the long runners on the back of your panels
  2. Align the spring nuts with the holes in the (2) stabilizer bars
  3. Place your stabilizer bar on top of the spring nuts
  4. Put your split washers and then your flat washers onto your bolts (8 each); place into each hole
  5. Tighten bolts being careful not to over tighten
  6. Screw on your (4) prepped L feet to the ends of the stabilizer bars
  7. Continue with the mounting instructions below

Low Profile Kit (91M-OL):

  1. Insert your (8) spring nuts into the long runners on the back of your panels
  2. Align the spring nuts with the holes in the (4) mount adapters (we recommend placing these at least a few inches in from the corners, but these are adaptable to your roof layout and needs) (approximately 6" is typically what our installers do)
  3. Place your mount adapters on top of the spring nuts
  4. Put your split washers and then your flat washers onto your bolts (8 each); place into each hole
  5. Tighten bolts being careful not to over tighten
  6. Screw on your (4) prepped L feet to the ends of the stabilizer bars
  7. Continue with the mounting instructions below

Mounting your prepped panels onto your roof:

  1. Clean the surface you are mounting on with 91% isopropyl alcohol
  2. Set the panel with mounts on the roof and position it while the mounts are semi-loose (this will let everything settle into a natural tension-free position)
  3. Go around and tighten each bolt gradually, being careful to keep the L-Foot in the same position
  4. Lift the panel and peel the tape cover off of each mount foot
  5. Place the sticky panel back on the roof in the same exact position
  6. Check that each foot is flat against the roof, loosen bolts to make adjustments if necessary
  7. Apply the sealant by completely burying the mount foot
